After graduating from West Side, I attended Purdue University where I played in the band (First Rose Bowl Trip), was president of the Wesley Foundation and President of the Council of Religious Organizations. I was a member of Alpha Phi Omega and the Model Railroad Club. I graduated in 1971 with a BA in European History and a Cooperative Education Certificate in Chemical Engineering. I then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and graduated in 1977 with a Master of Theology degree and a Master of Sacred Music degree. I spent en years as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. For the past twenty three years I have been the Minister of Music at St. Paul Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Pensacola, Florida. My wife, Sammie and I have been married for thirty years and we share five children-Richard, 49, is the Consul at the US embassy in Mozambique; Laurel, 33, is an assistant district attorney in Fort Bend County, Texas (just west of Houston) where she is in charge of all the child abuse cases; Tim, 30 is a barber here in Pensacola; Zach, 28, has a masters in horticulture and is living in Alpine, Texas where he is doing surveying for a gas pipeline; Kelly 21, lives here in Pensacola and is starting her own cleaning service.

I retired from the Escambia County School District where I spent 15 years teaching middle and high school band, chorus, math, World History, sociology and psychology. for twelve of those years I had a 93 mile per day commute. Needless to say, I am enjoying being retired from teaching! How ironic it was to get a job as a choral conductor in a high school because I could teach Algebra!!

Sammie and I are both serving churches as ministers of music. Occasionally we get to combine our choirs.

Currently I direct an Early Music consort and am teaching recorder for the Leisure Learning Group from the University of West Florida. I have one organ student and am active in the local model railroad group.

Although I have not done so recently, I have over 1800 hours logged as a private pilot with my instrument rating.

I manage to get back to Purdue from time to time to march with the Purdue Alumni Band (including the 2009 Indy 500 Parade).

I look forward to seeing classmates at our 50 th reunion! I daily give thanks for all that West Lafayette High School has given to me.
