Posted 6/19/16 It is hard to believe that half a century has passed since graduation. High school was followed by 4½ years at Purdue leading to a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. After Purdue came 11 years in the Marine Corps with assignments in Virginia, North Carolina, Japan, Korea, and California. The California assignment was particularly favorable as I completed a MS in Electrical Engineer (Naval Postgraduate School), a MS in Systems Management (USC), and met my wife Lisa. The next 10 years in Southern California included the birth of our two sons (Tristan & Trent) and several engineering jobs. Despite technical success at Science Applications International (SAI), political and economic conditions led to a 1992 decision – move to Virginia or get laid-off. We figured “Why not, it’s only for a couple of years.” That was 24 years ago. Virginia put us closer to my son (Bob) and his family and provided Lisa with a 20-year career with the CIA. I “retired” from SAI in 2008 but took an interesting job with a small company “for a couple of years”. I’m still working for them. (So much for plans.) Lisa cut back to part-time this year and we’re both planning to retire next year. Tristan and his wife are living in Richmond. Their daughter, our first grandchild (my 8th), was born in March. We’re looking forward planning to the reunion. See you in West Lafayette! |
