Posted 6/11/16 After four years in the U.S. Air Force I finished up my studies at Purdue University with a degree from Kranert in 1975 and along the way picked up my private pilot ticket. I joined State Farm Insurance that same year and opened my own insurance agency in West Lafayette. In 1977 Becky and I married and it wasn't long after that we had our first child Lindsay. Our second daughter Kelly was born in 1981 and in 1985 I accepted an opportunity to join the leadership team at State Farm Insurance in the South Bend Indiana area. Throughout my life I have continued to be very active enjoying snow skiing, water skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking and anything else that kept me moving. In 2011 I retired from State Farm and we began the next phase of our life on a lake in southern Michigan across the border from South Bend, IN. My oldest daughter Lindsay and her four kids and husband live nearby and we get to see them often. Our youngest daughter Kelly and husband have two kids with another on the way and they live in O'Fallon, MO. In retirement I chose to get involved in philanthropic activities as well as a couple of other boards, just to keep me out of trouble. Oh, by the way we just got a puppy, a Toy Golden Doodle, who is a lot of fun, my kayak buddy. That pretty much is a thumbnail sketch of my life after Westside High School. I hope you all have enjoyed your lives as well and I look forward to seeing you all at our 50th class reunion! |
